Kentrell Ragin is an emerging voice in contemporary gospel and worship music—a recording artist, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose music blends passionate worship with musical excellence. Known for his powerful vocal delivery and spirit-led musicianship, Ragin’s artistry continues to resonate with audiences seeking authentic praise and worship experiences.
A native of Bridgeport, Connecticut, Ragin’s musical journey began remarkably early. At just three years old, he began playing the piano entirely by ear without any formal training. Recognizing the rare gift placed within him, his family encouraged his musical development as he dedicated himself to hours of practice and musical exploration. By the age of seven, he publicly debuted his musical abilities, quickly becoming recognized for his exceptional ear, musical sensitivity, and natural command of the instrument.
As his talent matured, Ragin expanded his artistry to include singing and songwriting. During his high school years, his musical excellence earned him the honors of Best Pianist and Best Vocalist while traveling with his school’s band in 2009—an early affirmation of the impact his gifts would have beyond his hometown.
His growing reputation led to opportunities within the national gospel music community, including touring as an organist and musician with acclaimed gospel artist J. J. Hairston and Youthful Praise. Through this experience, Ragin gained invaluable exposure to audiences both domestically and internationally while refining his signature sound and worship leadership.
Throughout his career, Ragin has shared the stage with some of the most influential voices in gospel music, including Erica Campbell, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Deon Kipping, Deitrick Haddon, Kierra Sheard Kelly, Karen Clark Sheard, Marvin Sapp, and Tye Tribbett—further establishing his presence within the broader gospel landscape.
Ragin introduced his recording artistry to the world with the release of his debut album Like Never Before in 2017. The project showcased his ability to merge heartfelt worship with rich musical arrangements, marking the arrival of a new and compelling voice in gospel music. He continued to build momentum with the release of his live worship project Who We Know You To Be in 2022, a powerful collection of songs capturing authentic moments of praise and intimate worship.
Much of Ragin’s music is shaped by personal testimony and deep spiritual reflection. His single “Wish Momma Was Home” reflects on the passing of his beloved mother, LySandra Ragin, in December 2019. Her life and faith left a lasting imprint on his ministry, inspiring music that speaks to grief, healing, and the sustaining presence of God.
Beyond his work as a recording artist, Ragin is also a respected songwriter and producer who continues to collaborate with artists, ministries, and worship leaders across the christsian gospel community.
